Hello, IT Leads!
In the continued spirit of sharing, I thought I’d email you about these interesting statistics. I am missing our IT Leads Conference this year, where I can share things like this and much more with you…so read on for some interesting info you may not already be aware of but should know as a 21st century educator. J
Below are some interesting statistics about four Web 2.0 applications (3 of them are strictly “social networking” in nature). If you’re thinking that tomorrow’s learners aren’t online and exploring their cyber world, you’d be wrong. J Personally, I think that Oprah’s recent move to utilize Twitter to update her fans and friends about her goingson is a huge boost for the application. Here’s some info on Twitter, if you’re not already familiar with it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter Heck, everyone can practically be “followed” via Twitter. Even Kirstie Alley is planning on Twittering how she plans to lose weight (again, this time w/o Jenny Craig). J
Recently, I’ve had many friends and colleagues contact me to join my Facebook page (which by the way, I seldom if ever visit…except for recently when I had to break the news to many foreigners that I was not the “Diana Sawyers” they’d world traveled with and wanted to catch up with). A good reason to keep a low profile these days, is that future employers or other people can find out personal information about you by simply reading your exchanges with your friends—word to the wise, if you have either a Facebook or MySpace account, clean it up b/c you never know who’s reading. J

MS Word Test Here at Ron Jackson I, we MOST DEFINITELY would like to see a "run-through" test for our educators. We have several here who LIVE on the verge of hysteria despite our attempts to keep them calm and assure them the practice and use of training will help them. I think it's more all the craziness and upheaval than fear over Word, but it does add to their concerns. Is there a way to RE-ARRANGE the exam so it does not look like the same test? I can only imagine it would be time consuming to re-create this sort of interactive exercise, and I certaily don't have the skill level (or is it just the confidence level) to create one.

MS Word Test We definitely think the teachers should see a practice test. However, the practice test should not be the same as the real test due to concerns of maintaining test integrity. Tim Falke and Pat Palmer from Giddings.
